2025 ABCDE Awards

ABCDE recognizes exceptional individuals at the annual Teacher Education Roundtable with the following awards:

Emerging Teacher Educator Award

This award acknowledges a teacher educator who has collaborated with Teacher Education Programs (TEPs) in BC, and who has been serving the field for less than 10 years. This individual has made an impact in education through their innovations and/or inspirations in teaching and learning. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, as well as Indigenous rights will be prioritized in the adjudication of this award as a reflection of ABCDE’s values. The committee acknowledges that career interruptions can impact career trajectories.

Submission of nominations: please provide a letter from the nominator with the nominee’s name, position, and contact information. Nominations should include a description of:

  • nature of collaboration with TEPs;
  • EDID and Indigenous rights contributions;
  • innovations and inspirations of teaching and learning; and
  • impact on the field.

Up to three additional pages of support materials may be provided per nomination.

Established Educator Award

This award is to recognize and celebrate an educator, who has distinguished themselves in uplifting the goals and priorities of Faculties of Education in BC for more than 10 years. This individual has made an impact in education through their innovation and/or inspirations in teaching and learning. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, as well as Indigenous rights will be prioritized in the adjudication of this award as a reflection of ABCDE’s values.

Submission of nominations: please provide a letter from the nominator with the nominee’s name, position, and contact information. Nominations should include a description of:

  • activities, processes, and contributions to an area of education;
  • EDID and Indigenous rights contributions; and
  • impact on the field

Up to three additional pages of support materials may be provided per nomination.

Education Advocate

This award is given to an individual, group, or organization that has acted courageously and strategically to transform and improve practices in education. The nomination should provide evidence of positive influence for the betterment of education in BC.

Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, as well as Indigenous rights will be prioritized in the adjudication of this award as a reflection of ABCDE’s values.

Submission of nominations: Nominations for the Education Advocate award can include a written or multimodal submission. Multimodal submissions (audio or visual) should be limited to three minutes. Written submissions should be no more than three pages. A self-nomination must include an arms-length reference, and a letter of support from someone who has benefited from the advocacy. All submissions could include one artifact.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, March 14, 2025.

The award recipients will be selected by the ABCDE Awards Committee. Awards are subject to the receipt of suitable nominations. Nominations and questions may be directed to Michele Dau (michele.dau@twu.ca), ABCDE Administrator.
